For the most part, Site Wide ads optimize for themselves—which is great to free up your time and focus on everything else on your plate, but there's one thing you absolutely cannot neglect: Excluding pages you don't want to advertise.

Perfect examples of this include if an item is sold out, if an item is unavailable, or if you're spending a lot of your budget but might not be returning at an ideal rate. Essentially, excluding pages allows you to effectively use your ad budget. If this sounds a little intimidating, don't worry—we're here to help. Take a look at our quick guide below to walk you through it.

How to Exclude Pages in your Site Wide Campaign

1. Sign into your Google Ads Account.

2. Click into the "Search Campaign” tab on the left side.

4. Click into your Site Wide Campaign.

Pro Tip: If you look at your budget, if Google is telling you that you are reaching your budget throughout the day, then you can click on the budget icon and increase the budget. Increasing budget will allow more visitors to click on your ad to visit your site.

5. Click into “More” at the bottom on the left and click into “Dynamic Ad Targets.”

6. From here, you will click into “Negative Dynamic Ad Targets.”

Note: This is a way to tell Google about certain parts of your site that you do not want to include on your site wide ad.

7. Click the blue plus button, and can add a new negative target.

8. Click Select a campaign or Select an ad group and choose the campaign or ad group for the negative dynamic ad targets.

Pro Tip: You create one or more rules to exclude specific webpages. You can choose to exclude pages by category, page content, page title, or URL.

  • Use exact URLs: Enter or paste the exact URLs you want to exclude. Enter one URL per line.
  • Create rules to target webpage: Use the drop down menu to select Page content, Page title, or URL, and then enter the conditions for the rule.

Depending on your account and your business you may not be excluding pages on a weekly basis, that is okay! Be sure to check back in on your pages every couple of weeks to keep your account healthy and budget optimized.
